Description
Erosion control on the Kishiwada industrial waterfront, Osaka - Japan. Tetrapods are massive concrete items used in breakwaters. Their shape is designed to dissipate the force of incoming waves by allowing water to flow around rather than against it, and to reduce displacement by allowing a random distribution of tetrapods to interlock. In the labyrinth below but above the water line there were cats running about and feeding on fish scraps that fishermen were tossing to them.
